3rd team match this week, but 2 great results and
2 match reports that take match reporting to a new
level: The First Team ”Ash went on first,
making the match harder than needed but finally overcoming
his opponent 10-8, 10-8, 9-7. Notable moments were
Ash's voice breaking in the 1st, the "one a match"
textbook drop shot and the "How hard can I hit
the ball" approach in the 2nd and 3rd games.
Having not learnt anything from his previous match
(25 errors/press-ups), he made 29 errors resulting
in more press-ups in the bar afterwards. On the other
court Stefan turned up in another of his mum's lovely
canary yellow blouse', sufficiently distracting his
opponent (who was laughing) and ran away with the
match fairly comfortably 3-0. Ian took on the old
Hart "legend" Timothy Kirk & this proved
to be a real dogged battle with Ian tiring to a 3-1
victory. Rob in destructive manner, never let his
opponent

the game. A totally dominant display in a 9-2, 9-0,
9-0 win (his own words!). Finally Chris rounded things
off with a 3-0 victory. However it could have been very
different as Chris pulled on his nightie, got the duvet
out and fell asleep in the 3rd, only waking up at 8-0
down.” A few bedtime stories went down well in
the bar afterwards! .....
21st August - The
2nd Team An extremely disappointing way to finish
the season. James was up for it but he was unhappy with
the way he played and came off with a 1~3 defeat. Phil
was off the pace and lost 0~3, Matt was carrying a painful
rib injury and suffered the same fate. Chris A played
really well for 2 games but did not have the stamina
to close it out and he too came off frustrated, but
having given 110%. Chris H was also injured and his
result was no different. One to forget!

The
Thirds - It has been a very tough league and here
was another bad result at the hands of the team at the
top of the league. Performances were creditable, with
Pete at 5 taking a couple of games, Warren, Rick and
Kerry also picked up a game as some reward for their
efforts. Dave was up against a really good player and
ended up with a 0~3 defeat.
This Summer has generally been a struggle with long
- term injury affecting a couple of our regular team
players and then other niggles adding to the pressures.
We are now looking forward to wiping the slate clean
for the new Winter season. |
